FPSO Hull Structures with Sandwich Plate System in Cargo Tanks

Nowadays, the floating production storage and offload system (FPSO) is one of most common platform types for offshore oil production. The traditional arrangement stiffened panels creates obstacles automated cleaning inspections by remote devices. This paper summarizes results an initial study design construction FPSO hulls with SPS in order to overcome this problem. main goal have walls bottom cargo tanks free stiffeners. research conducted first designing hull a conventional structural using steel according ABS rules as benchmark. Following that, equivalent structure sandwich plates designed accordance guidelines from DNV rules. Finally, provides finite element analysis compare stresses ultimate strengths both structures. Briefly, are that reduction 2.8% total weight better overall performance increase 26% strength hull.
